The General Manager Yobe Rural Electrification Board, Engr Umara Mustapha Goniri has said that his board is committed to making the best out of the available resources through the execution of projects as they affect the rural people in a positive way.
According to him, over 22 communities in the state are currently benefiting from electricity supply through the state Rural Electrification Board projects in less than nine months, stressing that the entire projects amount to over N1.5bn and are all executed within the time Gov. Mai Mala Buni took over as governor in May, 2019.
Goniri said some of the projects already completed include the electrification of Sumsumma village, Northern part of Waziri Ibrahim Estate Damaturu, re-electrification Shagari Estate and some part of Pawari ward Damaturu and Dikumari village.

Others are reactivation of Bayamari-Yunusari 33KV line installation, electrification of Ali Marami extension, Kasaisaviilage, electrification of Gashua road three bed room estate extension, Abbari/UnguwanKaro to Sani Daura estate.
Also benefitted by the projects are public schools which are Government Science and Technical College Geidam, Jajimaji, Nguru, Potiskum, Gashu’a and Government Girls Secondary School Ngelzerma, among others.
He regretted that the Boko Haram crisis has affected some of their projects especially in the axis of Gulani and Gujba where work has been stalled due to the activities of the insurgents.
He however announced that his board was able to carry out the reconstruction of Town Distribution Networks of Gujba, Buni-Yadi through Rural Electrification Board as the people returned back to the town.
At the moment, more communities/villages in the state await their turn to be counted as beneficiaries of the rapid rural electrification drive of the Yobe Rural Electrification Board under the leadership of Engr. Umara Mustapha Goniri.
