The Managing Director of Meritabode Nigeria Limited, Mr Oludotun Oseni, has said the duty of providing affordable accommodation in Nigeria should not be the sole responsibility of the government.
Speaking at the ‘Love and Investment Season 4’, Oseni said “the country is currently suffering from housing deficit”.
Quoting the boss of the Federal Mortgage Bank in Nigeria, Ahmed Dangiwa, Oseni said: “The country’s present housing deficit is currently about 22 million units; and the bulk of that is in urban areas-Lagos, Port Harcourt and Abuja”.
Oseni said to combat the housing deficit as a company, Meritabode began to provide affordable housing solutions since about eight years.
The Meritabode boss said the company had to introduce flexible payment options so as to make it easy for Nigerians to buy property “because embarking on housing projects many times seem impossible for many-every family deserves shelter and that is where family ties are made strong.”
