APC non-NWC members fault emergency NEC

THE non-National Working Committee (NEC) Forum of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) on Thursday  faulted the process of convening the Tuesday’s Emergency National Executive Committee meeting of the party.

According to the forum in a statement by the National Chairman of the forum,  Nelson Alapa in Abuja, the forum warned against abuse of party constitution and illegal conduct by party officers.

The forum challenged the procedure and process of convening the Emergency NEC meeting, alleging that it fell short of the party’s constitutional provision.

The statement reads: “We have taken note of Article 25(b) 1 & 2 of the party constitution as the constitutional provision for summoning APC NEC  meeting; hence, we are against all manner of constitutional breach in the process if initiating APC NEC meeting”.

The 47-member strong forum lamented that the breach of the party’s Constitution and decried the on-going activities at the party’s Secretariat which the described as a national embarrassment.

”We have observed that the situation is turning into a national embarrassment to the party and our Forum numbering forty seven (47) members, will not compromise the interest of the party for any selfish ambition of any individual”.

The group then appealed to national officers and leaders of the party to desist from acts capable of destabilizing the party and derailing the focus of the adminstration of the APC led government of President Muhammadu Buhari.

There was a show of force by the Police on Thursday morning with the parade of a convoy of 7 Hilux trucks of armed Policemen along the Blantyre Street, Wuse II, Abuja where the national Secretariat is situated.

Since Monday, entrance to the party Secretariat is subjected to presentation of the newly issued identification cards to Secretariat staff and to newsmen.
