NPFL clubs assess medical facilities

Clubs across the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) have started assessing their medical facilities ahead of league games.

This is in reaction to the March 8 death of Chineme Martins of Nasarawa United FC in Lafia, the country’s football authorities had called for adherence to medical regulations.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) had directed the League Management Company (LMC) to ensure that teams in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) comply with the maximum medical requirements for any football match in the league.

Abia Warriors’s Media Officer, Chigozie Nwosu, said that the club has taken fresh measures to rejuvenate the club’s medical team in order for them to be able to respond to emergencies.

He added that the club also entered into collaboration with the Red Cross for their first aid people to be deployed to support the club’s medics during their home matches.

“We know the essence of being compliant in the area of medical facilities, equipment and personnel, especially during home matches in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL),’’ he said.

Kano State Football Association (KNFA) said their medical equipment and personnel ?were up-to-date as required by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) at match venues.

Secretary of the FA, Nura Isa said: “Even before the recent directive from the NFF and the League Management Company (LMC), the state has fully functional ambulance and Red Cross personnel.
