‘Drug dealer’ held with 15 bags of hemp in Niger

A 42-year-old man, Monday Obiora, has been arrested by police for allegedly being in possession of 15 bags of Indian hemp.

Obiora was arrested at Dusai village in Mariga Local Government Area of Niger State after residents sighted a vehicle conveying substances suspected to be Indian hemp along Rijau Road and reported to the police.

Police spokesman Wasiu Abiodun, an Assistant Superintendent, in a statement, said the suspect confessed to the crime during interrogation.

“The suspect said that they were carrying the bags to Wurari in Rijau local government area,” he said.

Abiodun said the suspect also  implicated two “accomplices” now at large, adding that there were efforts to arrest them.

The police spokesman said the suspect would be taken to court as soon as investigations were completed.
