THE Ijaw Youths Council (IYC) Worldwide has raised committees to sensitise Ijaw communities on the need to stop burials and other activities that attract large gatherings as part of measures to prevent the spread of Coronavirus.

The IYC President Eric Omare said on Thursday that the advocacy committees were set up in different clan levels to prevent the spread of the pandemic.

He said all clan chairmen had been appointed to go round all communities and advocate against burials, marriages, birthday parties and other social gatherings that aide the spread of the virus.

Omare said: “In response to the fast-spreading coronavirus pandemic and the need to enlighten Ijaw people in the rural communities against the spread of the virus, the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) worldwide has set up Advocacy Committees at the different clan levels to enlighten the local populace all over Ijaw nation on how to prevent the spread of the virus.
