The Adamawa State Emergency Management Agency (ADSEMA) has distributed to the 21 local government areas of the state food items to cushion the effects of ongoing lockdown on the people.

Executive Secretary of the agency, Dr Muhammed Suleiman who spoke with newsmen who visited the government warehouse from where the food items were being loaded into trailers and trucks for delivery to benefitting LGAs, said some LGAs had got as many as 1,000 bags of rice, depending on size and need.

Apart from rice, cooking oil and seasoning materials were being parked into vehicles designated for various LGAs when newsmen visited the government warehouse in the Bakin Kogi area of Jimeta Monday afternoon.

The ADSEMA Executive Secretary said the relief materials were measured for the different LGAs according to predetermined needs and distribution will be done by committees at two levels.

“We have different committees at the various LGAs,” he said, explaining that the LGA committee comprises the council chairman of the particular LGA, the elected member of the state House of Assembly from the LGA, a representative of the paramount ruler in the LGA, and an elder.
