COVID-19: Two suspected cases test negative in Abia

Two samples of suspected COVID-19 patients from Abia State have reportedly tested negative.

This is coming about 48hrs after a suspected patient at Umuobasi Ibeku in Umuahia North Local Government Area of the state that was taken to Edo State for test and confirmation by the State Emergency Response Team tested negative.

This was disclosed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Abia State Governor; Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, Mr. Onyebuchi Ememanka in a release on Tuesday.

According to Ememanka, the test was carried out at the NCDC Test Facility in Ebonyi State.

The Governor’s Chief Press Secretary disclosed that the patients were a 2-years-old girl and a 27-years-old lady who had shown symptoms that were similar to COVID-19.

Ememanka in the release said “Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has just received the results of two samples sent from Abia to the NCDC Test Facility in Ebonyi State.

“The first is that of a two-year-old girl while the other is a 27-year-old lady. They earlier showed what looked like symptoms of the disease whereupon their samples were taken for examination at the test facility.

“To the glory of God Almighty, both tests returned NEGATIVE.

“The Governor is thankful to God and urges the people of Abia State to continue to observe the best hygienic practices and social distancing even as we look up to God to continue to protect us from this pandemic.”
