Abductors of the Special Adviser to the Nasarawa Governor on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs John Mammam have released him.

Mammam , a retired Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, was kidnapped last Saturday at 8pm in his village in kokona local government of the state.

The kidnappers, who demanded N150m ramson initially, later reduced it to N20m.

Our correspondent gathered reliably that N20m was paid to the kidnappers before the release of the Special Adviser.

He was released unhurt on Tuesday at about 11:30pm to his family.

But speaking to journalists on Wednesday, Commissioner of Police, Bola Longe, denied t ramsom was paid for the freed Special Adviser.

He said that the command deployed a team of 16 crack personnel made up of anti-kidnapping operatives and State Intelligence Bureau personnel to the area.

The team, he said, mounted heavy pressure on the kidnappers to release the Special Adviser.
