Monarch donates food, drugs to Anambra

THE traditional ruler of Ogidi, Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State, Igwe Alex Onyido has donated drugs and medical equipment worth N2.5million to the state for the fight against the coronavirus spread.

The monarch also made a cash donation of N1million as well as 500bags of rice to cushion the effect of the lockdown occasioned by the scourge.

He said the donation was in response to the state government appeal for assistance in the fight against the pandemic.

The items donated included hand sanitisers and various medications.

“As a monarch, I saw it as necessary to support my governor both financially and materially because as a pharmacist and stakeholder, I know what it entails to combat such a scourge,” the monarch said.

“I’ve already donated 500 bags of rice and promise to provide more food palliatives to assist the government to ensure people of the state have what to eat as they observe stay at home order.”
