The branch chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) Lagos Island, Branch C, Alhaji Azeez Adekunle Lawal AKA Kunle Poly has said that the current corona virus pandemic has taken a toll on transportion business. The NURTW boss made this statement at his recent birthday celebration where he spoke with journalists.
“One way or the other the issue will affect transportation business. Recall that the Lagos state governor went for a press briefing were he stated that all civil workers from level one to level twelve should stay at home for two weeks which is going to reduce the rate at which people go out thereby affecting transportation business. Also, the FG announced curfew in lagos as well”, said Kunle Poly.
Kunle however noted that members of the NURTW have been sensitized on how to take preventive measures against the spread of the deadly virus. He explained that the state chairman had organized sensitization programme.

“Our Lagos state chairman has done well we held a meeting and he called all the branches in Lagos state, from the National headquarter of our great union we had a doctor in attendance who lectured us on how to relate with our passengers at the parks, they also lectured us on social distancing and hand sanitizing. You can’t see anybody without sanitizer, before any passenger enters the bus at the park, we examine them with machine given to us by the State council and also give them hand sanitizer to sanitize their hands. I’m using this opportunity to tell Nigerians to take precautionary measures to prevent the spread of the virus”
Speaking further, Alhaji Lawal who used to be in loggerheads with the new NURTW state chairman, Musiliu Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo revealed that both parties have now put their past behind and are now friends and colleagues.
“I’m using this opportunity to tell the world that, I Ahlaji Azeez Adekunle Lawal AKA Kunle Poly that i do not have any grievances with Mc Oluomo, He is my boss, my godfather, my friend. I’m saying that all the NURTW Lagos State council are ONE. I also thank everyone behind my success story, my father Alhaji Fasasi Ajadi Lawal, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu because he is the boss of all bosses, the Lagos state Governor, the Chief of staff, assembly members of Lagos state, senatorial members of Lagos state council most especially senator Oluremi Tinubu”.
