The Ajia Balogun Olubadan of Ibadanland, Adegboyega Adegoke, has urged Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde to emulate other Southwest governors by constituting a committee for COVID-19 Support Fund.
He said doing so would encourage more Oyo indigenes at home and in the disapora to support with money.
Adegoke gave the advice while felicitating with the Olubadan, Oba Saliu Adetunji and other monarchs at Easter.
He said: “During this trying period, people should be generous to their neighbours. The Covid-19 Support Fund committee should comprise people of integrity as in Osun, Lagos, Ogun and Ekiti states; even at federal level.
“When people know the calibre of committee members, it will encourage them to donate more.”
Adegoke advised people to follow the preventive measures provided by medical experts as well as directives and guidance from government agencies on the pandemic.
“Prevention is better than cure. If we all follow the preventive measures put in place by medical experts, we will all come out of this pandemic stronger.”
