Badagry beefs up security

COVID19 lockdown Lagos

 

The Badagry Local Government Area, Badagry West Local Council Development Area and Olorunda Local Council Development Area are determined to deal with  hoodlums and other criminals who might want to seize the opportunity of the COVID 19 lockdown in Lagos State to perpetrate crimes in the local government area and two local  council development areas in Badagry, Lagos State.

Speaking on behalf of the local government chairmen , after a joint peace and security meeting held at the Badagry local government Secretariat with the security agencies in the council areas, the chairman of the Badagry local government, Hon Olusegun Onilude, said they had resolved to complement the efforts of the security agencies working in the council areas with the traditional security outfits of the Badagry Kingdom to safeguard lives and property of the citizens in the council areas.

Onilude said after a series of reports of attacks by hoodlums on some segments of Lagos residents, “our amiable governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, had advised us to brace up our security network to forestall possible attacks by hoodlums prowling some parts of Lagos State to rob people of their belongings “

He said as responsive and responsible governments, the council chairmen decided to deploy every possible means to secure lives and property of the residents of these council areas.

He said: “We have decided with all the security agencies working in Badagry and its environs to shut down all guest houses and hotels which might play hosts to these criminals to unleash mayhem on the people of the Badagry Kingdom.

The executive members of the Community Development Committees (CDCs) and Community Development Associations (CDAs) have also been sensitised to inform all the vigilante groups and members of the Lagos Neighbourhood Security Corps (LNSC) to swing into action to beef up security in their various localities. “

The council boss noted that all the oba and chiefs were not left out of this task as they had been informed “to reactivate the traditional security outfits in their various communities like the Sangbeto and Oro security outfits to ward off impending criminal activities in their various domains “

He, however, said that the oba and chiefs had to inform the council chairmen before they could perform their task.
