POLICE have arrested officers filmed beating a woman, Abdulazeez Adesola in Iwo, Osun State, for flouting the stay-at-home’ order.
The video showed Inspector Ikuesan Taiwo and Constable Abass Ibrahim beating Adesola with sticks despite her claim that she was out to buy drugs.
Inspector-General of Police Mohammed Adamu ordered their arrest.
The state government has condemned the assault.
In a statement yesterday in Osogbo by Commissioner for Information and Civic Orientation, Mrs. Funke Egbemode, said:
“This is a democracy and Osun State is a decent society where men in or out of uniform should not and cannot whimsically flog women, even men. We note that police authorities have condemned the unwarranted actions of these men. The government likewise condemns the unacceptable conduct of these policemen.”
