Kyari left enviable legacy of service – Pensioners

Nigeria pensioners under the aegis of Federal Parastatals and Private Sector Pensioners Association of Nigeria (FEPPPAN), have commiserated with President Muhammadu Buhari, the immediate family of late Mallam Abba Kyari and entire Senior Citizens of Nigeria, on the death of the Chief of staff to the President.

The pensioners expressed sadness over Kyari’s death, saying he was the first very high profile person to have died of the virus.

Kyari died last Friday after contracting the virus and was buried on Saturday at the Gudu cemetery, Abuja.

The pensioners, in a statement by its President-General, Chief Temple Ubani, said they were consoled by Kyari’s “enviable legacy of service to our nation and humanity.”

It added: “The fate of Abba Kyari, underscores the dire need for vulnerable retirees and all senior citizens in our country to adhere to all the health and social measures advised by the authorities to stay alive.

“It is also imperative that the Federal, States and Local governments  pay special attention to the needs of this category of vulnerable retirees and senior citizens alongside others.

“We pray that the Souls of the departed fellow citizens caused by the COVID 19 pandemic Rest In Peace.”

The pensioners appealed to the Federal government to find a way to provide far-reaching palliatives as part of security measures to keep Nigerian pensioners  and senior citizens safe and less hungry as they stay at home while the fight against the novel Coronavirus last.
