Kano Fire Service saves 119 lives, N574m goods in three months

The Kano State Fire Service on Wednesday said it had saved 119 lives and property worth N574 million in 286 fire incidents in the state between January and March.

Its Public Relations Officer, Alhaji Saidu Muhammed, made the disclosure in a statement obtained by News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Kano.

Muhammed disclosed that 15 died and property worth N154 million were destroyed by fire within the period.

He noted that the service received 86 rescue calls and 52 false alarms from residents.

He attributed the fire incidents to road accidents, the use of inferior electrical materials; use of boiling rings, as well as poor handling of electrical appliances, cooking gas and fireplace were the major causes of the inferno.

The PRO advised the general public to patronise high quality electrical materials in handling anything that involves fire to avert fire outbreaks. (NAN)
