Armed bandits terrorizing Birnin-Gwari area of Kaduna State on Monday ambushed a Police vehicle, killing one Inspector.
The incident, The Nation learnt, occurred on Monday evening around a Polwaya village along Kaduna-Birnin Gwari road.
The bandits, according to sources, equally killed one other person in an attack on a village and whisked away six persons, including the village head.
A source from the area told our xorrespondent the Police vehicle was heading to Birnin-Gwari when it was ambushed by the bandits.
The source also said the Policemen were from Buruku Divisional Police Station with another policeman seriously injured in the attack.
Confirming the development to journalists, a member of the local vigilante group in the area, Hussaini Imam said: “After the bandits killed an Inspector and injured one of his colleagues on Monday evening, they also came to another community close to Udawa and abducted the village head and killed another person called Lado and abducted five others.

Imam added: “The bandits in the earlier hours of Tuesday also attacked another community close to Udawa town under Chikun along the Kaduna/Birnin-Gwari highway and picked a village head and five other people.”
Efforts to get confirmation from the Kaduna State Police Command Public Relations Officer, ASP Mohammed Jalige proved abortive.
