FOR the second time in less than a week, the Katsina State government on Wednesday received another batch of 148 almajiri children sent packing from Gombe State as part of measures to contain the spread of COVID-19.
Secretary to the State Government (SSG) Mustapha Inuwa, who received the children at a temporary camp near the NYSC camp, told reporters that the children were conveyed in 11 buses.
Inuwa said plans were underway to enrol the returnees into vocational training, adding that they would be subjected to a medical examination.
He reiterated the commitment of the state government to return non-indigenous almajiri children to their states of origin in a more dignifying manner.
Also, the acting Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, Yusuf Muazu, said the state government was planning to enrol the children in a craft village to learn some vocations for self-reliance.
