President Muhammadu Buhari has sent condolences to the governor of Sokoto State, Governor Aminu Tambuwal, over the death of his uncle, Sheikh Haruna Waziri Usman, who died after a prolonged illness.
The President, in a statement issued by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu, described the deceased Sheikh Usmam as a distinguished scholar.
“President Muhammadu Buhari commiserates with government and people of Sokoto State over the passing of Sheikh Haruna Waziri Usman, at 96.

“Sheikh Usman was the patriarch of the Waziri Tambuwal family.
“The President said: ‘Sokoto State and indeed the nation lost a noble and distinguished scholar.
“President Buhari prays that Allah will forgive the shortcomings of the community leader and grant Waziri Tambuwal family the fortitude to bear the loss” the statement.
