ScholarX, a firm focused on raising funds for students to access training, has launched a hardship fund for students whose parents have been adversely affected by the lockdown occasioned by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Its co-founder/Chief Executive Officer, Bola Lawal appealed to Nigerians to support the fund which is expected to touch the lives of 500-1,000 students.
He said the firm would organise virtual concerts to create awareness about the fund from Saturday.
He said: “As we all know the pandemic has disrupted everyone’s lives and we are all pulling things together to adapt to a new normal.
We also know that this crisis has affected people in different ways, some hit harder than the others – especially people in the in informal sector those that rely on daily hustle to be able to fend for their faimilies ,particularly those who desire to provide basic education for their children.
We know that times are hard and we feel their pain.
“So our team at ScholarX got together and decided to set up something that can help, and so we came up with the COVID-19 Hardship Education Fund.
Our goal is to raise a minimum of N10 million to help fund 500 to 1,000 student whose parents work in the Informal sector.
“We plan to create awareness and also get donations from the public through a series of virtual concerts (at least four) that we will be hosting on various social media platforms; starting next week Saturday May 16.”
