Ekiti State Government on Wednesday said five more persons have tested positive for coronavirus, bringing to 25 the confirmed cases in the state.
The victims, who included two health workers and three patients at Federal Teaching Hospital, Ido-Ekiti, FETHI, were the recent cases.
The Commissioner for Health and Human Services, Dr. Mojisola Yaya-Kolade, made this known while briefing newmen at the Government House, Ado-Ekiti, the state capital.
Yaya-Kolade said the new index cases contracted the disease from a 75- year- old woman, who was transferred from Omu-Aran in Kwara State to Federal Teaching Hospital, Ido-Ekiti but later died of COVID-19-related complications.

She noted the two health workers are currently asymptomatic, adding that the patients are stable and responding to treatment.
She further said the state government is disinfecting the isolation centre to keep it safe and free of the virus.
The Commissioner urged residents to stay safe and always obey the instructions of the government in the efforts to stop the spread of the pandemic in the state.
