Two Ebonyi council members recover from COVID-19

Two Ebonyi state Executive Council members who tested positive for COVID-19 have recovered and discharged from the isolation centre.

Professor Ogbonnaya Chukwu, who is the Commissioner for Finance and Economic Development and the Principal Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Clement Nweke, were discharged on Monday after spending about one week receiving treatment.

They were officially discharged from the newly constructed 300-bed capacity coronavirus and other infectious diseases treatment centre located at the Alex Ekwueme Federal Teaching Hospital, Abakaliki.

Ebonyi Government last week announced that some members of the State’s Executive Council had tested positive.

Consequently, Governor Umahi announced the shutting down of the State’s Executive Council for seven days, which would elapse on Wednesday.

He also ordered all EXCO members to embark on compulsory test for the virus within the period.

He directed civil servants to work from home within the seven days period.

Umahi also ordered the immediate fumigation of Government House.
