UPDATED: Niger relaxes COVID-19 lockdown

Niger Governor Abubakar Sani Bello has announced easing of the lockdown and restriction of movement in the state.

The Governor declared this while recieving the technical committee report for establishment of Niger state COVID 19 molecular testing laboratory in Government House, Minna.

According to the Governor, markets, banks, other business activities, worship centres can open for daily and weekly activities.

He however said there would be a curfew from 10 pm to 4 am daily.

He stressed there would be compulsory use of facemask and adherence to social distancing at public places must be observed.

The Governor added the ban on inter-state travels was still in place except for the movement of agricultural produce, manufactured goods, petroleum products and essential services.

He said all internal security checkpoints would be dismantled while the ban on commercial motorcycle operation was still in place.
