Lagos State Records and Archives Bureau (LASRAB) joins the International Community in celebrating Y2020 International Archives Day themed “Empowering Knowledge Societies”.
Director-General, LASRAB, Mrs. Bilikiss Adebiyi-Abiola said the aim of the celebration is to advocate the essential role played by archivists and information professionals in the Knowledge Societies of the 21st century, having moved from analog to digital operations; to show that archivists and records managers are indispensable to the preservation of the world’s memory and that they work assiduously to empower the Knowledge Societies.
Adebiyi-Abiola further stated that the archival records and data landscape in the 21st century is changing public expectations on how we do our work, what constitutes credible evidence and how we protect our holdings. The professionals, i.e. data and information managers, document managers and archivists, provide the opportunity of ensuring benefits get delivered to citizens and Knowledge Societies alike.
In light of the above, the Director General, LASRAB stated that despite the current situation induced by the Covid-19 pandemic, the Bureau had designed a programme tagged “Lagos Heritage Series” to mark this year’s International Archives Day celebration and it will be propagated online for about 10 weeks.
