Disu family holds Fidau prayers for matriarch

The eight-day Fidau prayer for the matriarch of foremost Nigeria football family of Disu, Alhaja Nurat Disu holds today in Lagos.

According to one of his sons, Tajudeen Disu, who captained Abiola Babes in the 1980s and was a member of the 1983 Flying Eagles, the Muslim rite praying ceremony will hold in Lagos.

Four of Mama’s son, Tunde (one time Flying Eagles coach), Tajudeen, Akeem and Iliasu all played for the country at different times.

‘Alhaja’ as she was fondly called was said to be a lover of football who encouraged her sons during their playing days. Mama died at 94 on June 6, 2020.
