A 40-year-old man, Hillary Apeh, has been arrested for allegedly battering a nine-year old girl, leaving her with bloody marks, a swollen face and an almost blind right eye in Onitsha, Anambra State.
The minor was said to be Apeh’s niece.

Police spokesman Haruna Mohammed confirmed the arrest, saying the victim has been taken to hospital for treatment.
Mohammed said Apeh confessed that he beat the girl for being sluggish when sent on errands, adding that “preliminary investigation revealed the suspect had on several occasions physically abused the victim who has scars all over her body”.
