Uzodimma, commissioner condole with The Nation over cartoonist’s death

IMO State Governor Hope Uzodimma on Tuesrday commiserated with the Management and Staff of The Nation on the death of its award-winning cartoonist, Azeez Ozi Oniya Sanni.

Sanni died on June 15, 2020 in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, and had been buried according to Islamic rites.

A statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Ogwike Nwachuku, said Sanni’s death was shocking and a big loss to the multiple award-winning newspaper.

Also, Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr Gbenga Omotoso, condoled with The Nation on Sanni’s death.

In a condolence message to the paper, Omotoso, who was Editor of The Nation before his appointment last year, wrote: “Please, accept my condolences on the passing of Azeez Ozi-Sanni, the award-winning cartoonist. He was good at his job. He was passionate about it. He accepted corrections calmly and never troubled anybody.

“With Ozi-Sanni, you were sure of winning a competition in cartooning. He was humble and loyal – to his art and his employers.

“May The Almighty console The Nation family and his immediate family.”
