COVID-19: Ondo denies running out of bed spaces

Ondo State Government has denied running out of bed spaces at its Infectious Disease Hospital (IDH) owing to the increasing number of COVID-19 cases in the state.

The number of COVID-19 cases in the state has risen to 232.

Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu last Monday said the virus has spread to 13 local government areas in the state.

Available information showed that active cases on admission in the state were 71 and 47 persons have been discharged while 18 deaths were recorded.

The 13 local government areas where cases have been reported are: Akure South (68); Odigbo (9); Owo (6); Ose (3); Akure North (7); Ondo West (14); Okitipupa (35); Akoko South West (5); Akoko South East (1);  Ile-Oluji/Okeigbo (1); Ifedore (3);  Ilaje (1) and Ese Odo (1).

Akeredolu’s Special Adviser on Health Matters, Dr Jibayo Adeyeye, described the report as false and untrue.

Adeyeye said there were still available beds despite spike in number of infected persons.
