Masari to CAN: join hands in tackling Banditry, COVID-19 in Katsina

Governor Aminu Bello Masari of Katsina State, on Wednesday tasked the leadership of Christians Association of Nigeria-CAN in Katsina, to join hands with the state government in tackling the twin problems of banditry and COVID-19 in the state.

He further told the leadership of CAN that they were invited to contribute meaningfully towards providing inputs to deal with the insecurity challenges and the resurgence of the spread of corona virus in the state.

Also speaking, the Secretary to Government of Katsina State, Dr Mustapha Muhammad Inuwa presented a gory detail of the security situation in the state to members of the Katsina State branch of CAN.

The SGS particularly asked them to contribute on ways to curtail the activities of informants that has been fueling banditry activities in the state.

The Permanent Secretary in the State Ministry of Health, Dr Mustapha Kabir while updating the leaders on the status of In the state said the pandemic is still very much with people in the state.

Dr Kabir further revealed that symptoms are not necessarily seen on some patients, adding that the disease had no known cure and no vaccine.

He said ” the second wave of the pandemic which is more critical had begun in the world.

He announced that Katsina local government now has 343 patients while Daura has 86 infected people and that out of the 557 cases in the state, 23 deaths have been recorded

He said ”6 died receiving treatment and 17 were discovered to have died through complications of Covid-19 but posthumously”

”Out of 103 patients that tested from the police detention cells, 87 tested positive for Covid-19”

He advised that the leadership of CAN needed to conduct advocacy on hand washing and use of sanitizers, face mask and observing social distancing to curtail the spread of corona virus.

The senior special Assistant to the Governor on Christians Affairs, Reverend Ishaya Jumrau expressed gratitude to Governor Aminu Masari for involving the indigenous Christians in governmental affairs in the state.

Also the Senior Special Assistant on Women Christians Affairs, Mrs sarah Ruwan sanyi also thanked the Governor for assistance being rendered to the female Christians in the state.

Some of the Christians that spoke during the meeting include Reverend Yunana sulaiman, Reverend Audu Bakwai, Reverend Yakubu Danlami Doka, Mr Peter Musa Danmallam, Mr Garba Salisu Faskari, Mr Aminu Samuel Dandume and Mrs Lami
