Retirees on Wednesday stormed the palace of the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, to protest the non-payment of their pension and gratuity.
The protesters, under the aegis of the Osun State Contributory Pension Retirees, carried placards.

They were received by Laadin of Ife, High-Chief Kayode Awofiranye.
Addressing the protesters, he said: “I sympathise with you and I promise that your message will be delivered to His Imperial Majesty, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, for prompt communication with the government.”
Comrade Niyi Adefare, who had addressed the High-Chief on behalf his colleagues, urged the Ooni of Ife to assist the helpless senior citizens to get their entitlements.
