Aggrieved All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftains in Ekiti State at the weekend shunned a stakeholders’ meeting where issues affecting the party were discussed.
The Special Adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on Political Matters, Sen. Babafemi Ojudu, former Minister of Works Sen. Adedayo Adeyeye, Dr. Wole Oluyede and others were absent.
The meeting, convened at the behest of the Paul Omotosho-led State Working Committee, was held at the Osuntokun Hall, Government House, Ado-Ekiti.
The well-attended meeting had in attendance Governor Kayode Fayemi, his deputy, Chief Bisi Egbeyemi, National Assembly members Senators Opeyemi Bamidele, Olubunmi Adetunmbi and Wumi Ogunlola, Femi Bamisile, Yemi Adaramodu, Ibrahim Olarewaju, Sola Fatoba and Peter Owolabi.
Others were Minister of Trade and Investment Otunba Niyi Adebayo, who was represented, House of Assembly Speaker Funminiyi Afuye, state lawmakers and others.
A source said notice of meeting was sent to statutory members, including Ojudu, Adeyeye, Oluyede and other aggrieved chieftains, except those on suspension, but no reason was given for their absence.
Governor Fayemi said the disagreement between him and the Ojudu-led aggrieved leaders was a family affair.
He said he would not treat any member as an enemy despite the attacks against him.
In a communiqué issued at the end of the meeting and signed by the state APC Publicity Secretary, Mr. Ade Ajayi, the stakeholders passed vote of confidence in Governor Fayemi after a review of the projects carried out by his administration, which included road and water projects, schools’ renovation, sinking of boreholes in schools and others.
