‘Nigeria needs private sector-driven entrepreneurship agenda’

 Juliana Agbo, Abuja

A FORMER House of Representatives member, Abimbola Daramola, has said Nigeria needs to articulate a private sector-driven agenda to propel its entrepreneurs to greater accomplishments.

The ex-lawmaker said it is significant for the country as it marks 60th Independence anniversary this year to encourage people to have a fresh focus and fight the mass job deficit caused by COVID-19.

Daramola, who spoke at an entrepreneurship pre-boot camp on Project 60:60:60 in Abuja, said entrepreneurship has to be structured so that the people can fit into it.

Announcing plans to assist over 60,000 entrepreneurs with workable creative ideas and skills from each of the geopolitical zones with N60,000 to N1 million each, the former lawmaker said a board of assessors will assess all ideas presented for that purpose.

“This vision starts this year as part of our 60th year Independence anniversary with the selection of 60 young people with workable creative ideas, skills, vision from the six geopolitical zones. The successful ones will attend the 60th Independence Anniversary Entrepreneur Boot Camp and thereafter will be given start-up capital,” he said.
