Lagos: CDAs begin campaigns on home care

As Lagos State moves to the home care stage for mild COVID-19 cases, the Lagos State Community Development Advisory Committee (LSCDAC) has assured residents of the state government’s total commitment to full treatment and wellbeing of all residents.

The LSCDAC Chairman Alhaji Azees Amusat, made this known at a state-wide campaign on the new initiative meant to ensure that bed spaces at all the state’s isolation and treatment centres are not congested.

He urged the people not to panic in case their loved ones contracted the illness, adding that all medical and health workers in all the 57 local governments and Local Community Development Areas (LCDA) are equipped for prompt treatment.

He also enlightened residents on how they could self-isolate, or quarantine anyone with the infection.

The LSCDAC chief urged Lagosians to take responsibility for the protection of their lives as the state’s daily COVID-19 cases continued to soar.

Amusat, who was accompanied by other executive members of the Committee and other CDA/CDC officers, at the Iyana-Ipaja Motorpark said the governor had them to spread the news about home treatment alternatives for mild cases of COVID-19 as the treatment centres have become congested with no vacant bed spaces in all the isolation centres.

He therefore urged the people to partner the government in its efforts to contain the spread of the virus.

He said: “The governor’s message is that the isolation centres are filled to capacity and there’s no longer bed spaces any more, forcing the government to consider home treatment for any asymptomatic or mild cases of the COVID-19. The government has raised a medical team in each CDAs and all you need to do is inform your CDA chairman or any of your officials who will get the appropriate authorities notified and such cases would be treated at home, as only severe cases would be admitted in government facilities.”
