Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has said roads leading to Apapa will be opened in October.
Sanwo-Olu was addressing reporters after a tour of roads and bridges connecting Apapa and environs.
The governor inspected Costain, Alaka, Ijora, Marine, Liverpool, Lilipond and Mile 2 bridges.
He said there was need to overhaul the Apapa system to improve journey time in and out of the area.
Sanwo-Olu added that the government would meet with stakeholders in Apapa to ease things up in the axis.

According to the governor, the axis was congested because the two ports take more than their capacity ‘and that is why the government, in collaboration with the ports authority, is building another port in Lekki to be ready in two years to ease the pressure in Apapa’.
He added: “We are working with stakeholders to understand their challenges and how best to address them. As a government, we have a commitment and responsibility to our people. We must also ensure an efficient system where we do not continue to experience this gridlock. We must be able to regenerate the improvement of the roads and bring proper life back to Apapa.”
