Experts have proffered solutions on how E-learning can be incorporated in Nigeria’s education sector.
This was a gathering of eminent stakeholders in Nigeria’s education sector as the Digital Literacy advocacy Club and Centre for information Technology and Development over the weekend, hosted the E-conference.
The event had in attendance, the Vice Chancellor of Tai Solarin University of Education, Professor Adelaja Arigbabu; the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities National Public Relations Officer, Comrade Abdusubbor Salaam; Academic Staff Union of Universities, OAU, Dr. Egbedokun Adeola; Former Dean of Student Affairs, UNIOSUN, Dr. Adepeju Abeke Adigun, was anchored by Isaac Adeyinka, McGiftedMouth.
The experts unanimously agreed that there is an importance for incorporation of E-learning in Nigeria’s education sector but to achieve this, many things must be put in place.
The Vice Chancellor of the Tai Solarin University of Education, Professor Adelaja Arigbabu in his address, clamored for more trainings and empowerment of teaching staffs through Digital trainings and literacy.

The ASUU OAU Chairman while stating that the importance of E-learning cannot be underscored noted that with the current make-up of Nigerian Universities, the readiness to incorporate E-learning is not there.
He advised the Nigerian government should show seriousness by engaging stakeholders towards ensuring how to tackle issues that have arisen in the process of incorporating E-learning in Nigerian educational system.
Also, the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities National PRO, Comrade Salaam said there is a need for the Academic Staff Union of Universities to prioritize researches that would culminate into Information Technology innovations.
Salaam opined that there must be a political will if E-learning will hold successfully in Nigeria. He said there should be a shift from building big classes to building Information Technology Infrastructures across Tertiary institutions in Nigeria.
Weighing in on the students plight, Dr Adepeju, who is a former Dean of Student Affairs in Osun state University, said many parents cannot afford to pay the fees of E-learning. She emphasized that E-learning is expensive and as thus must be subsidized by the government.
Adepeju said there must be a shift from little incentives to much more better incentives for education. She stated that E-learning makes education more accessible.
Earlier, the representative of Centre for Information Technology and Development, Harira Wakili emphasized the importance of E-learning while stating that CITAD will continue to support efforts to develop Information Technology in Nigeria across sectors.
