Lagos State Government, through the Lagos State Safety Commission (LSSC), has trained workers and stakeholders in the transport sector.
The aim is to sensitise Lagosians on safety.
Speaking at the training with the theme: ‘Hygienic management after the ease of COVID-19 lockdown’, the Director General, LSSC, Mr. Lanre Mojola, said transporters were being trained in personal and work place safety as it related to the COVID-19 pandemic, hazard identification and avoidance of drug and substance abuse, among other safety measures being initiated by the government.
He hailed Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for tackling the pandemic and ensuring that it was being eliminated.
Mojola urged members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) to utilise the advantage of the training and ensure the pandemic is eradicated.
The Chairman of NURTW, Lagos State chapter, Musiliu Akinsanya, aka MC Oluomo, enjoined members to complement the efforts of the government by obeying safety precautions on COVID-19 such as maintaining physical distancing in their vehicles, daily fumigation of such vehicles, compulsory wearing of face masks and positioning of hand washing equipment at strategic places in their motor parks.
