Youths burn police station in Katsina

SOME youths have set a police station on fire in Katsina State.

The youths were reportedly protesting against incessant attacks in Daddara, a community in Jibia council area of the state.

The youths burnt down the police station and an Immigration post on  Monday.

An eyewitness told The Nation that the protesting youths also made bonfires and blocked a road linking the Jibia-Katsina Expressway.

Police spokesman Isah Gambo confirmed the incident in a statement, saying 43 suspects have been arrested.

He said, The Command received a report that some disgruntled youths and adults mainly from Daddara village, Jibia LGA of Katsina State, came out in their numbers, tumultuously rioting and protesting.  The angry protesters were reported to have blocked the Katsina-Jibia Highway, exactly at Dadda village, smashing and destroying vehicles of security agencies and that of innocent citizens passing along the highway.”
