Work on N9.2b Sokoto teaching hospital begins

WORK has begun on the proposed Sokoto State University Teaching Hospital and Government Girls Science Secondary School sites at Kasarawa. The contracts were awarded at  N6.8 billion and N2.4 billion.

Briefing reporters on a tour of the project sites on Sokoto Birnin-Kebbi road to assess the progress of work done, Chief Consultant Kabiru Yabo, said they moved to the busy site a month ago to begin work in earnest according to specification and standards.

Yabo stated that the hospital was designed to provide about 22 structures with adjourning facilities among others, an Administrative block, labour room, VIP, VVIP, laboratory and theatre rooms, access road, water system network, wards and halls to specification.

Upon completion, the hospital, designed on 44-hectare land space, with two entrance gates; six general wards with 96-bed spaces each for male and female patients.

Besides, it will boost existing health facilities in the state as well as ease access to improved healthcare services.
