The Caretaker/Extra-Ordinary National Convention Planning Committee of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) may have started lobbying leaders and strategic groups within the party to secure an extension in office.

It was inaugurated on June 25 and given six months by an emergency National Executive Committee (NEC) to reconcile all factions and aggrieved members of the party.

The Committee was equally mandated organise and conduct a national convention for emergence of new National Working Committee (NWC).

On Wednesday, the Forum of APC State Chairmen passed a vote of confidence on Governor Mai Mala Buni- led Caretaker/Extra-Ordinary National Convention Planning Committee (CENCPC).

Source within the party told The Nation a similar meeting is slated for Thursday with members of the Non- National Working Committee (NNWC) of the National Executive Committee of the party at the party Secretariat in Abuja.

The chairman of the forum and Borno APC Chairman, Alhaji Ali Bukar Dalori at a meeting with Buni and forum members at the party’s Secretariat in Abuja moved the motion, seconded by his Benue counterpart, Comrade Abba Yaro.

The motion was unanimously endorsed by all the members of the forum.

Dalori condemned a 14-day ultimatum slammed on the Caretaker Committee by a group known as Concerned APC Members in the week.

Addressing newsmen after the meeting, the Forum deputy chairman and Delta APC chairman Prophet James Ode Erue said nothing was wrong in granting the Caretaker Committee tenure extension.

According to him: “What is wrong for a good thing to be sustained or support a good thing to stay? Call it rumour or real, we are in support of the committee and in support of the unity of our party.

“Anything that will bring unity to our party we are in support of it one hundred percent.”
