Sokoto State Government on Monday unveiled its plan to begin an entrepreneurship youths programme across the state next month.
This is in its bid to encourage and strengthen the capacity of youths for sustainable entrepreneurship drive towards job creation.
The government praised President Muhammadu Buhari and other African leaders for recognising a day for the youths in Africa and Nigeria.

Sokoto State Governor described the programme as timely and profitable after been named ’The golden doyen of Nigerian Youths’ by the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) at the maiden celebration of the 2020 African National Youth Day organised by the NYCN in collaboration with the government of Sokoto State. Tambuwal said the programme will be executed by his office and would run for a pilot period of three months, after which it will run concurrently up to the end of his administration.
The event held at the Sultan Maccido Institute of Quran and General Study in the state capital.
The governor said the programme is aimed at further empowering the teeming youths in the state, noting that some of who were already members of the state executive council and the public service.
“Already, several youth empowerment programmes are currently being undertaken by the state Ministry of Youth and Sports Development to boost economic programmes by seeking out youth with exceptional skills that will be given special attention and motivation.”
