The 2020 Annual Award of Excellence and Lectures of University of Benin (UNIBEN) Alumni Association Lagos Branch will Sunday, December 6 hold at the Banquet Hall of Sheraton Hotels & Towers, Ikeja, Lagos.
A statement signed by the Chairman of the branch, Pharm. Stephen Onojomete, and the PRO, Mr Julius Ebhodaghe, the event, which is under the distinguished Chairmanship of Brigadier General Anthony Okpobrisi, will have Hon. Gbenga Omotosho, Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Lagos State, delivering the keynote address, while Prof. Lilian Salami, Vice Chancellor of UNIBEN will be Special Guest of Honour.
Shortlisted candidates for this year’s Award include; Mr Wole Adeniyi (CEO Stanbic IBTC Bank), Mr Elias Igbinakenzua (MD, Globus Bank PLC),
Mr Obukaroro Ovadje (Assist. Director DPR Rtd),Mr Olumide Akpata (President NBA), Major General Adamu Jidda, Brigadier General Henry Oburo, Brigadier General Eruwa Emiko Rtd, Pharm Amaka Onyemelukwe (Head Public Affairs, Coca Cola PLC), Omo Ohiwerei (Operations Director, Ethiopia Bavaria Breweries), Mr Bestow Akeze (Director, Lafarge Africa PLC), Pharm Ikemefuna Obiorah (Key Account Mgr National, Emzor Pharmaceuticals Ltd), Prince Adesola Sunday Abimbola Esq.
The event, which will hold by 3pm, is expected to avail members the opportunity to project their Alma mater (UNIBEN) to the world and honour some distinguished ambassadors of the school.
Notable achievements of the alumni in recent years would be the provision of two boreholes to the school in the affected Halls of residence in Hall1 (Female hostel) and Hall 4 (Male Hostel) respectively, which were commissioned by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. (Mrs) Lilian Salami on the 8th of October 2020.
The association also provided palliatives to members in critical condition during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The statement enjoined all alumni members to attend its monthly meeting every third Sunday at the University of Benin Liaison Office at Anthony, Lagos.
