Lagos royal families seek peace

The Olandu and Amore royal families of Ogudu in Kosofe Local Government of Lagos State have urged the Regent, Chief Nojim Fashola, to toe the path of peace and not create disharmony in the families.

They stated this to clarify some reports in the media (not The Nation).

Their spokesman, Mr. Oliver A. Ozemhoya, said Ogudu, a farm settlement, was founded by three brothers – Olandu, Amore and Amosu. He said: “Olandu, the eldest and a warrior, was killed in Dahomey, the present day Republic of Benin and his early death prevented him from becoming the first Baale of Ogudu. His immediate younger brother Amore became the first chosen Baale of Ogudu. After the death of Amosu, an Amore line in the person of Labisi became the third Baale of Ogudu. Labisi’s death also led to the emergence of Ajayi Aga, an Amore, as the fourth Baale of Ogudu, while Fashola (an Amosu) became the fifth Baale of Ogudu when Aga died.’’

He continued: “A sworn declaration was intelligently occasioned under the Baaleship of Atiku Fashola on the 30th of July, 1995. Present at the declaration were Matanmi Osoja, Tijani, Adebiyi, Sule Fashola Sadiku Fashola and Atiku Fashola, representing the three ruling houses.’’

Ozemhoya claimed that these three branches do not represent their families as Baale Sule Fashola, the father of the regent, ruled under their arrangement.

He advised the Regent, Chief Fashola, to set the record straight to avoid acrimony.

On the issue of land, he said the three families have a 1968 sworn declaration where their accredited members featured.
