‘Super Tucano aircraft will boost security’

The Coalition for A Better Nigeria has described the Federa Government’s deal with the United States for the 12 A-29 Super Tucano Aircraft as capable of ushering in a new era in the fight against  insurgency.

It  praised President Muhammadu Buhari and rejoiced with Nigerians following news that the planes will be delivered as scheduled this year.

In a statement by Awa Bamiji, the group said: “It is a dawn of new era for Nigerians when the United States Secretary of the Air Force, Barbara Barrett, announced on her arrival in Nigeria early this month in a statement that the 12 A-29 Super Tucano Aircraft ordered by the Federal Government will.

“Barrett, who toured the Defence Space Administration and initiated the first- ever collaboration between the US and the Nigerian Defence Space Institutions, explained that the delivery would come with the training of 60 Nigerian military pilots, instructors, aircraft maintenance specialist over 24 months.

“It is on this note that we commend the Federal Government and rejoice with the citizens and the residents of Nigeria.”

The coalition praised the Lagos State Government following plans to improve street lighting in the city.

It said: “As part of its commitments in transforming the Lagos business terrain into a smart city, the Lagos State Government has concluded arrangements towards replacing the existing street lighting system with a smarter and more efficient LED street light. We say kudos to Lagos State government.”
