GUNMEN Thursday night kidnapped the chairman of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), Delta State University, Abraka branch, Comrade Monday Izu.
He was seized on the Eku-Abraka Road, while returning from an official assignment.
His abduction came 11 days after his 63rd birthday.
Sources said the kidnappers were yet to contact the family members of the victim, as at noon on Friday.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Delta Police Command, DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya, confirmed the incident.

She stated that efforts were in top gear by operatives of the command to rescue the labour leader unhurt.
The SSANU-DELSU chairman had, on behalf of the Joint Action Committee of non-academic unions at DELSU, urged the Federal Government against killing university education across the country.
Izu spoke on the Federal Government’s recently approved N30 billion for the payment of arrears of earned allowances for ASUU, SSANU, NAAT and NASU in which 75 per cent was earmarked for ASUU and 25 per cent for SSANU, NASU and NAAT.
