Gemona West Design Studio has made Nigeria proud by clinching the award for the ‘Best Office Space in Africa’ with their Pernod Ricard Nigeria office design project at the International Property Awards.
The event celebrates the highest levels of achievement by companies operating in all sectors of the interior design and architecture industry with over 45 different residential and commercial categories.
Regional heats were staged for Arabia, Europe, Africa, Canada, Central & South America, the Caribbean, USA, UK, and Asia Pacific.
Commenting on the award, the Creative Director of the company, Mrs. Deise Forgiarini Smith, explained that the award has shown that the industry in Nigeria and Africa is growing, developing and meeting up with international standards.

“We are happy to be in the forefront of this because we are committed to growth, collaboration and giving back to the community.”
She further stressed that the collaboration would drive growth and create more value for all stakeholders in the industry.

Smith noted that Gemona West Design Studio considers the welfare of her workers in the design process by adopting a flexible working environment and working from home practices, adding that this has led to an increase in performance.
While highlighting the numerous challenges faced by interior design in Nigeria including inadequate experienced designers and inability to get the best materials to work with, she affirmed that “Gemona West Design Studio is determined to create a new revolution in the interior design industry in Nigeria by delivering groundbreaking designs that compare with best practices around the world.”
She posited that the company has shown that the African design community is achieving the same benchmarks as their international counterparts and is focused on showcasing what Africa and Nigeria, in particular, can do.
Smith also disclosed that Gemona West Design Studio has mastered the use of technology to execute her designs and projects, adding that it has achieved the ability to deliver flawless contemporary designs that exude elegance with an understanding of the market.
With two women at the helm of affairs, Gemona West is not new to winning, starting in 2015, the five-year-old company has created an amazing portfolio of wins as a result of the growth in its method of operations and capable staff and partners that shine light on the interior design community in Nigeria.
It won the International Property Awards in 2018 using its E-Tranzact project.
The winning run is a testimony to how much progress it has made since 2015 when it won The Tony Elumelu Foundation Entrepreneurship Programme and began operations.
