Spiritual Head, Cherubim and Seraphim Church Worldwild Prophet Samuel Abidoye yesterday cautioned some Nigerians drumming for war and breakup of the country.

He said that wounds in the aftermath of war cannot be easily healed. Prophet Abidoye told reporters in Orile-Igbon, Ilorin-Ogbomoso expressway ahead of this year’s Mount Horeb Ascension of the church.

This event kicks-off today (Sunday).

The clergyman said “rather than call for war or disintegration of the country, we should all embrace peace in order to remain as an indivisible country.

“We should all know that war goes beyond killing, it leads to starvation, restriction of movement, non access to health facilities, offices, markets, losing of wives, husbands, children, relatives among others.

“Those who witnessed the 1967-70 Civil War in Nigeria can tell the bitter stories and have the rest of the story, so united we stand, divided we fall.

“Federal government should therefore engage these warring set of Nigerians in a dialogue to save the country from another civil war.”

On the pervasive insecurity in the country, Prophet Abidoye said: “The unfolding scenarios in the country- kidnapping, terrorism, armed robbery, killings, wanton destruction of government and personal properties across the country have led to unprecedented tension on the citizenry all over.

He cautioned President Muhammadu Buhari against hike in the price of petrol, noting “government at all levels should be told boldly that there is poverty in the land. Nigerians are hungry. Prices of foodstuffs and other essential commodities are already beyond the reach of most people.

“Any attempt to further increase the price of petrol will further impoverish the living standard of most Nigerians which could lead to unprecedented crisis so government should not contemplate it but rather look for ways to ameliorate the suffering of Nigerians.
