Youths at Itaogbolu community in Akure North Local Government of Ondo State have chased their monarch away over suspected diabolical killing of a policeman, Ayo Oloyede.
The deceased was attached to the Anti-Cultism Unit of the Ondo State Police Command before he died in an accident last Sunday.
Witnesses said youths mobilised and chased the traditional ruler, Oba Idowu Faborode, the Ogbolu of Itaogbolu, out of his palace after news of Ayodele’s death spread.
Sources said the youth accused the traditional ruler of failing to perform his functions as well as protect his subjects.
It was gathered that the late Oloyede visited his mother and was heading for Akure, when the commercial vehicle he boarded somersaulted several times between Itaogbolu and Odudu village.

The youth reportedly regarded the deceased as a good man, who attended to their needs.
Sources said the youth attributed the accident to supernatural powers.
Ondo police spokesman ASP Tee Leo Ikoro said the youth went on the rampage because of the death of a police officer.
“Yes, we got information that some youths at Itaogbolu went on the rampage and chased the monarch out of the palace.
“We really don’t understand what is the connection between a dead policeman in an accident and the monarch of the town.
“Our men are on ground to put the situation under control, as we await more details from our investigation,” he said.
