Two new district heads have been turbaned by the paramount ruler of the Adamawa Emirate, the Lamido Adamawa, Muhammadu Mustapha.

The new district heads are Prince Simon Tarfa for Garkida District in Gombi local government area (LGA) and Abba Aliyu for Suktu District in Song LGA.

Adamawa Emirate covers much of Adamawa Central Senatorial Zone, including the LGAS of Gombi and Song, Yola South where the Lamido himself has his palace, Yola North, Fufore, and Girei.

Performing the turbanning of the two new district heads on Saturday at his palace, the Lamido Adamawa urged the new district heads to be unifying role models in their respective districts.

“Work closely with your people, seeking their opinions and enlisting their support towards meeting your challenges,” theLamido Adamawa told them, advising also that they should always report particularly challenging issues to the Emirate and other relevant authorities.

The new Garkida district head Simon Tarfa who spoke on behalf of himself and his Suktu counteroart, thanked the Lamido Adamawa for understanding and for allowing their selection to be done traditionally.

He expressed gratitude to Governor Ahmadu Fintiri for approving their appointments as district heads and for his concern for the security and well-being of Garkida District.

It can be recalled that Garkida has been one of the most troubled parts of Adamawa State by the Boko Haram insurgents who have attacked Garkida town in particular several times in recent past.

The new Garkida District Head was born in 1945 and is a trained agricultural engineer who worked first in the Northern/Northeast Government, then Gongola and subsequently Adamawa State Government where he retired after rising to be the Manager of Tractor Services at the Adamawa Agricultural Mechanisation Authority (AAMA).

On his part, the new Village Head of Suktu, Abba Aliyu who was born in 1984, graduated with a diploma from the Adamawa State Polytechnic in 2015 and went into active politics.
