The International Association of Lions Clubs District 404B2 Nigeria has said it will build an eye centre in Ogbomoso, Oyo State.
Newly-installed District Governor 404B2 Kayode Oshinuga said the project was approved after an extensive and comprehensive community needs assessment survey.
At a briefing yesterday in Alausa, Oshinuga said the project would serve the people Ogbomoso and environs when completed.
According to him, the communities would enjoy quality eye care services at affordable costs.
“This project, which is expected to be supported by our global foundation, The Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF) will cost us about N55 million and is expected to be opened before June 30 next year,” he said.
Oshinuga added that another intervention is the completion of the construction and equipping of another Eye Clinic at Erin Ile in Kwara State.
Other programmes for the next calendar year, he said, include skill acquisition for the youth, empowerment and other youth development programmes.
He said funds for the realisation of the programmes and projects would be raised during his investiture in August.
