The Lagos State Government, through the Office of Civic Engagement, has held  a stakeholder meeting to sensitise citizens about the expansion of Lagos -Badagry Expressway, from 4 to 10 lines.

The programme which was held in conjunction with the Lagos State Ministry of Works and Infrastructure was aimed at engaging the public and other stakeholders on matters that could hinder or mar the timely delivery of the road.

At the meeting, the Special Adviser office of Civic Engagement, Princess Aderemi Adebowale said: “It is a well-established fact that road infrastructure plays a crucial role in the socio-economic development of any society as it paves the way for the efficient movement of goods and services and promotes a wide variety of commercial and social activities.

“The socio-economic importance of this Expressway to the Lagos economy cannot, therefore, be overemphasized. This  Expressway has also been described as the ‘Gateway to Nigeria’ as it is a major access route into the nation from neighbouring countries in West Africa such as Benin Republic, Togo, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Gambia, and Guinea, to mention but a few.

“Badagry Division of Lagos State is no doubt one of the most preferred tourist destinations in Nigeria and holds huge economic potentials for Lagos State if properly and adequately harnessed. For this to be achieved, a good and accessible road is a must for the axis,” Adebowale said.
